The challenges of cyber security for organizations

Cyber security encompasses all human, technical and legal resources deployed by organizations to protect their networks, communication channels and data. Cyber security represents a major challenge for organizations, as cyber attacks of all kinds (eavesdropping, malware, phishing, etc.) are on the increase. These cyber threats now affect all types of organization, including political parties, associations, public entities (hospitals, universities, etc.) and businesses, from large corporations to SMEs and microbusinesses. 

Cybercrime: A problem affecting all organizations 

All organizations should be concerned with cyber security. In 2022, 73% of French organizations were affected by at least one cyber attack.* It is worth noting that among the organizations most affected are SMEs and microbusinesses, which are often poorly equipped in terms of cyber security, making them easy targets for cyber criminals.

They are mainly affected by ransomware attacks. Malicious programs steal important files and demand a ransom from their victims to recover them. 

Cyber attacks impact all areas of an organization 

Growing cyber crime is having an impact on organizations at every level, imposing new challenges such as: 

• Organizational: Organizations need to rethink their work methods to ensure the security of the data they produce. To achieve this, they need to modify their production tools and processes, or train their employees to adopt better cyber security practices. It should be noted that cyber security is also a human dynamic that must involve all employees, as well as customers and contractors.
• Technical: By deploying cyber security systems and tools (antivirus, antimalware, VPN, secure cloud data storage, etc.).
• Financial: To absorb the loss of time caused by the disappearance of any destroyed files, the payment of ransoms, the cost of cybersecurity equipment, etc.
• Image: By anticipating the risks of a tarnished e-reputation if the organization suffers a cyber attack.
• Competitive: To maintain independence from competitors who might fraudulently obtain strategic data.
