On 6 December 2022, the hacktivist group KromSec, which had previously been involved in numerous anti-imperialist cyber operations, including in Ukraine, claimed to have downloaded the database of the Iranian Ministry of Cooperation, Labour and Social Welfare. The data reportedly contains personal information such as login, name, email, password, location, etc. Although not specified, it is likely that this attack is politically motivated due to the Iranian government's repression of its population.   Read more about it : here

On 24 October 2022, the Iranian government declared that the theft of data by the hacktivist group "Black Reward" regarding the nuclear programme and the leak of the email that caused the breach were the result of "unauthorised access from a specific foreign country".    The exact nature of the data allegedly stolen by Black Reward is said to be "Iran's public and private conversations with the International Atomic Energy Agency" as well as construction plans, management and operation schedules and "passports and visas of Iranian and Russian specialists" involved in the country's nuclear programme. The government thus accuses a third country of sponsoring anti-government hacker groups in the fight against the regime.  The impact of these positions is so far minor but is naturally part of the deterioration of diplomatic relations between some Western countries and Iran. It is also likely that Iran will try to divert public attention by highlighting common enemies, which will ease internal tensions in the country.  Read more about it : here
