Major Canadian banks experience online outage

Five large Canadian banks reportedly went offline last Wednesday, with users complaining of access to online and mobile banking, e-transfers, and debit purchases being inaccessible. The reported banks are: Bank of Montreal (BMO), Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC), Royal Bank of Canada (RBC), TD Bank, and Scotiabank. While news of the reported outages became widespread on social media and tech publications around the world, the only bank to acknowledge technical issues itself was RBC.
