New Erbium password-stealing malware spreads as game cracks

The new "Erbium" data theft malware is distributed as fake cracks and cheats for popular video games to steal victims' credentials and crypto-currency wallets.

Erbium steals data stored in web browsers (based on Chromium or Gecko), such as passwords, cookies and credit cards.

Erbium is a new Malware-as-a-Service (MaaS) that provides subscribers with new data-stealing malware. When it was first launched, it cost only $9 per week, before increasing to $100 per month or $1,000 for a one-year licence. These extremely low prices are disrupting the malware-as-a-service market.
