Genesis group hacked Samsung

On January 18, 2023, the Genesis Group reportedly hacked into the Samsung Group's internal FTP service in South Korea, as well as the Samsung Group's internal employee system and intranet. The leak reportedly contained more than 2.4 GB, including Samsung Group's business data files in France, the internal MFA organisation chart, the internal demonstration video and login procedures for the internal system, employee access credentials to the intranet system and employee credentials. The attack is believed to have been carried out because South Korea has recently strengthened its cooperation with NATO. The impact of this potential attack would likely be significant. Indeed, the stolen data possibly contains files classified as secret for the company such as connection procedures that could allow other hackers to launch ulterior attacks. Finally, the personal data of employees could be used to track some of Samsung's staff without their knowledge, especially in France.
