Russia warns of a “military clash” if it’s hit by US cyberattacks
The website for Russia’s housing ministry was also hacked over the weekend, redirecting users to a “Glory to Ukraine” banner, though that attack has not been definitively attributed yet. “The militarization of the information space by the West, and attempts to turn it into an arena of interstate confrontation, have greatly increased the threat of a direct military clash with unpredictable consequences,” the foreign ministry statement said. At the same time, top U.S. cybersecurity officials have warned about Russian cyberattacks, cautioning that the country could deploy malware like NotPetya that might move through systems indiscriminately.
