Iran is now subject to the most severe internet restrictions and Anonymous takes down Iranian government websites
According to Netblock, a near total interruption of internet service in parts of the western Iranian province of Kurdistan occurred on the evening of Monday 19 September 2022.
The regional telecommunications outage in and around Sanandaj follows a partial interruption of internet service in Tehran and other parts of the country on Friday when the protests began. Instagram and WhatsApp were then restricted nationwide from Wednesday 21 September, followed by a nationwide shutdown of mobile networks. Despite some restoration of mobile internet service since Tuesday morning, online platforms remain limited and connectivity is intermittent for many users.
