SABCA company victim of a cyber attack
According to a report dated April 1, 2023, the Belgian aerospace and defence company Sabca was the victim of a cyber attack last week, forcing the company to adopt a degraded operating mode.
However, no major consequences for the company or its customers have been reported, according to internal sources. Sabca is a major aerospace and defence company in Belgium, producing parts for civil and military aircraft, as well as avionics and weapons systems. It employs about 1,000 workers in several locations and intends to strengthen its IT security in the future to prevent further cyber attacks.
The requirement to run part of its working procedures in a degraded operating mode means that some of the IT systems had to be locked down, suggesting that it could have been a ransomware attack.
