Iranian-linked hackers have been conducting phishing attacks against Israel
According to a report dated April 26, 2023, Iranian-linked hackers have been conducting phishing attacks against Israel using a new malware called PowerLess. Check Point, a cybersecurity company, is tracking the activities of these hackers under the codename "Educated Manticore."
These hackers, also known as APT35, use fake social media identities and spear phishing techniques to gain access to target computers. They have also found vulnerabilities in online applications to gain initial access and launch ransomware.
Check Point found that these hackers used an ISO disk image file that looks like decoys on Iraq to launch the PowerLess implant. Researchers warned that the malware may represent only the early stages of infection, and that post-infection effects have not yet been observed.
