The NIS 2 Directive is a European Union directive that entered into force on January 16th, 2023, giving member states 21 months to transpose it into national law.
Building on the achievements of the NIS 1 Directive, the NIS 2 Directive signals a paradigm shift, broadening its objectives and scope of application to ensure greater protection for entities through global requirements and the introduction of sanctions.
Even though cybersecurity threats are increasing complex and constantly evolving, and information systems remain prime targets, the NIS 2 Directive represents a unique opportunity for evolution : its application will better protect thousands of entities.
