Threat Landscape Report - Second Semester 2023

The report for the second half of 2023 by S21sec's, Cyber Solution by Thales, Threat Intelligence department accurately details the emerging threats that currently represent a significant danger to the security of businesses and individuals. This comprehensive document sheds light on the most critical threats of our time, including vulnerabilities, malware, and APTs (Advanced Persistent Threats), which pose considerable short to medium term risks.

This period has been mainly influenced by the conflict between Israel and Hamas, as well as the continuing conflict between Russia and Ukraine, which have been characterized by the use of destructive malware, an increase in hacktivist activities, and the operation of APT groups focused on espionage or the disruption of critical infrastructure.

Compared to the previous semester, there was also an increasing trend among cybercriminals in the use of infostealers, tools designed to obtain initial access and more advanced malicious software, such as ransomware.
